Decathlon Germany has upgraded its platform with faster speeds, rentals, used goods, and services like coaching. Customers can mix rentals, purchases, and bookings into one cart. A step towards a seamless, sport-focused future.
Decathlon Germany, a subsidiary of the French sporting giant, introduced an enhanced online platform this December. The update goes beyond a sleek design and faster loading times. It offers a unique “total package” aimed at making sports more accessible and engaging. The platform includes tools like repair guides, workshops, and a future-forward vision featuring rentals and booking services. This strategy is designed to connect with customers beyond traditional retail.
The upgraded platform offers more than just shopping. It includes a marketplace, circular services, and DIY instructions. For example, users can rent equipment, purchase used goods, and even book ski passes—all within a single transaction. Patrick Müller, Decathlon Germany’s e-commerce head, highlighted this seamless integration as a game-changer for customer convenience and engagement.
Decathlon aims to build lasting relationships with customers by emphasizing a comprehensive approach to sports. Claudia Roggenkamp, Chief Digital Officer for Western Europe, explained that the focus is on creating an immersive experience. The platform supports this vision by letting users explore, learn, and interact with Decathlon’s offerings digitally. Customers can now “digitally immerse themselves in sports worlds,” she added.
This move is part of Decathlon’s broader strategy to redefine sports retail. By integrating rentals, repairs, and coaching into its e-commerce offerings, Decathlon seeks to lead the market in customer-centric services. It reflects a growing trend where retail is about more than selling—it’s about building experiences. This innovative approach is expected to strengthen Decathlon’s foothold in Germany and inspire global markets.
