REWE has teamed up with Lieferando to provide 45-minute grocery delivery in 40+ cities. Customers can choose from over 3,000 products with orders starting at $21. Delivery fees vary from $2, but are free for large orders.
REWE, one of Germany's largest retailers, has partnered with Lieferando, the country’s top food ordering platform, to offer a rapid grocery delivery service. This service, initially available in 40+ cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Cologne, allows customers to receive deliveries within 45 minutes, operating Monday to Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The new service will feature more than 3,000 products, including popular REWE private-label lines like ja!, REWE Beste Wahl, REWE Feine Welt, and REWE BIO. The minimum order value for delivery is set at €20 ($21), with delivery fees starting at €1.99 ($2.12). However, larger orders may qualify for free delivery, depending on the order size and distance.
This partnership is part of REWE's effort to expand its express delivery service in Germany. Clemens Uwe Bauer, head of e-commerce at REWE, stated, “This cooperation with the leading food ordering platform Lieferando enables us to further expand our offering in the express segment of the e-food market.” REWE reported an 8.9% sales growth in 2023, reaching €92.3B ($98.3B), with 7.8% growth in Germany.
Lieferando, owned by Just Eat Takeaway, operates in Germany and Austria, positioning this partnership as a significant step in the food delivery market. Lieferando's managing director, Lennard Neubauer, said, “We welcome one of Germany’s largest food retailers to our marketplace. With this new partnership, we are expanding our service portfolio to include REWE’s product diversity.”
