Avataar launched its AI tool, Velocity, designed to create product videos directly from links. This innovation reduces video production costs and enables mass video generation. Backed by Peak XV and Tiger Global, Avataar aims to challenge giants like Amazon and Google. CEO Sravanth Aluru highlighted that Velocity uses advanced AI to simplify video creation for products, covering even non-strategic items in catalogs. Velocity has been tested since February 2024, automating completely by September 2024.
Velocity is already used by HP, Victoria’s Secret, Lowe’s, and more to create product videos. Avataar claims 3D models drive higher conversions, but videos achieve more engagement due to scale. The tool helps brands by automating video creation for items that previously lacked such marketing budgets. These AI-generated videos aim to improve conversions through storytelling and detailed product highlights.
Aluru emphasized that Avataar’s models specialize in product-specific attributes, ensuring a hammer video differs from a smartphone's. Their AI-powered API allows seamless integration into e-commerce platforms. They also prioritize quality and brand safety with strict guardrails to reject flawed outputs. With vast 3D rendering experience, Avataar creates videos blending aspiration with information.
Industry experts like Amir Konigsberg see video generation as a natural e-commerce evolution. While competition is fierce, Velocity’s unique focus on consistency and storytelling positions it as a key player. Konigsberg noted earlier hesitations due to quality concerns, but advances in AI now make mass adoption feasible. Avataar’s push into scalable, automated video production may set a new standard for online retail marketing.
