Boots is adding 25 new beauty brands, including The Beauty Crop and Tree Hut. The British retailer is revamping 200 stores, with new beauty halls and live demo zones. Competition with Sephora and Space NK heats up.
Boots will add 25 new beauty brands by the end of summer 2024. Some of these brands are The Beauty Crop, Tree Hut, Coats, and Kurl Kitchen. Alice Rafferty, Director of Luxury Beauty and Cosmetics at Boots, stated, "We are welcoming more of the brands [our customers] want to see to our shelves and making the most in-demand products more accessible."
Boots has already revamped 170 stores and will upgrade another 30 beauty halls. These upgrades include new furniture, trending areas, discovery stations, and live demonstration zones. These changes are part of Boots' strategy to keep up with the evolving beauty industry and make shopping more exciting for customers.
Boots' expansion comes amid stiff competition from Sephora and Space NK. Sephora reopened physical stores in the UK in 2023 after an 18-year absence. It has recently opened a store in Manchester and plans to open two more in Newcastle. Space NK is also growing, with plans to open four new stores in 2024, including two in Manchester.
There are ongoing rumors about a potential IPO for Boots. Earlier this month, Walgreens Boots Alliance paused plans for an IPO. The US company is exploring options for Boots amid ongoing sales talks. If successful, this would be the second attempt to sell Boots, following an unsuccessful attempt in 2022.
