DHL eCommerce’s new 25,000m² hub near Coventry boosts parcel capacity, supports SMEs, and features sustainable innovations.
DHL eCommerce has launched a huge 25,000m² parcel hub near Coventry Airport. The facility, part of a £482M UK investment plan, will add 600 local jobs. It features cutting-edge automation and a 48-door cross-dock facility. This expansion is key as UK e-commerce is set to hit £176B by 2029. Business Minister Justin Madders praised the move, calling it a “major boost” for UK logistics.
DHL is shifting its focus to SMEs, says UK CEO Stuart Hill. While large retailers struggle, the company aims to win over small businesses with premium next-day delivery. The hub also strengthens DHL’s international parcel network, helping UK firms expand globally. The site’s customs capabilities streamline overseas shipping, making international trade easier for SMEs.
DHL built the hub with sustainability in mind, earning a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. It has 7,000m² of solar panels, LED lighting, and green landscaping. The site also boasts 120 EV charging points for cars and delivery vans. These eco-friendly measures align with DHL’s goal to cut emissions and create a greener logistics industry.
DHL’s latest hub strengthens its UK network and supports e-commerce growth. CEO Pablo Ciano calls it a “blueprint for sustainable logistics.” With demand for faster, greener deliveries rising, this investment puts DHL ahead in the race. As digital shopping soars, expect more innovation in parcel processing and delivery speeds.
Will DHL’s focus on SMEs reshape the UK e-commerce market?
