eBay UK launched Buyer Protection on Feb 4, adding a fee for buyers and delaying seller payouts until delivery. The rollout starts in electronics, expanding soon.
eBay UK has introduced a Buyer Protection fee. Buyers now pay an added cost, up to 4% plus £0.75, included in the listed price. This fee ensures secure transactions. The rollout started in electronics and will expand to all categories soon.
Private sellers in the UK now get paid after delivery. Payments are released two days after confirmation. Sellers can use pending funds for postage or refunds. eBay urges sellers to use tracked delivery for faster payouts.
For items under £10 sent untracked, payments are released 24 hours after positive feedback. This update goes live by the end of February. eBay also added Royal Mail to its Simple Delivery service for smoother shipping options.
Business sellers are not affected by the changes. Buyer Protection remains free for them. Payout schedules also stay unchanged. eBay UK’s GM, Eve Williams, shared these updates, aiming for a more secure marketplace.
