Home Depot expands on-demand delivery with DoorDash and Uber Eats. Customers can now receive tools, materials, and gardening supplies at home or job sites.
Home Depot is enhancing its delivery game. On Jan. 23, it announced partnerships with DoorDash and Uber Eats. These new options allow customers to get tools, materials, and gardening supplies delivered on-demand. With over 2,000 locations nationwide, the retailer is using these partnerships to boost convenience. Customers can even track their deliveries in real-time using the Uber Eats app.
DoorDash and Uber Eats have been branching out beyond food delivery. As of 2024, DoorDash had partnered with 115K+ retailers, including those in home improvement, arts, and beauty. Retailers like Home Depot and Lowe’s increasingly rely on platforms like DoorDash and Instacart for same-day and on-demand services. In June 2024, Home Depot partnered with Instacart for deliveries of items up to 60 pounds.
Home Depot is also catering to its professional customers. In March 2024, it launched a delivery service to ship goods directly from distribution centers to job sites. This option helps pros save time and streamline their projects. By combining DoorDash’s fast platform with its existing same-day and next-day services, Home Depot is giving professionals and everyday customers flexible delivery solutions.
Despite high housing costs, Home Depot remains strong. In Q3 2024, net sales jumped 6.6% year-over-year to $40.2B, and gross profit hit $13.4B, up 5.4%. Jordan Broggi, Home Depot’s online president, stated that these moves are part of their effort to create a seamless, interconnected shopping experience. The company’s strategy highlights its focus on customer convenience and digital expansion.
