Kaufland marketplace now extends its digital retail presence to Poland and Austria, leveraging local brand recognition and a lack of competitors in Austria.
Kaufland, already a heavyweight in Poland with 245 stores, is poised to dominate the online sector. The digital marketplace, noting a boom with over 10% growth in Polish online retail, aims to be the go-to for both large and small online retailers. The move to Austria is a strategic leap, as Kaufland introduces its marketplace in a region where it has no physical stores but enjoys a 40% brand recognition.
Despite the lack of a physical presence in Austria, Kaufland's brand awareness stands strong. The Austrian online marketplace landscape is notably sparse, presenting a ripe opportunity for Kaufland to offer a broad product range and fill a market void. CEO Gerald Schönbucher expresses enthusiasm about this strategic expansion, which is set to enhance their footprint in Europe.
Kaufland's Global Marketplace, an all-in-one solution, facilitates both national and international sales with a single registration. This approach simplifies logistics for online retailers and promotes rapid scaling without the need for substantial resource investment. Currently, Kaufland's German marketplace attracts up to 32 million online visitors monthly, boasting over 45 million products.
2024 sees the rollout of 'Fulfillment by Kaufland,' a service that handles the picking, packing, and shipping of products directly to customers. This initiative is aimed at speeding up delivery times, with several retailers already onboard and many more expected to join. This enhancement underscores Kaufland's commitment to refining the customer experience and boosting seller efficiency.
