Shoppers can now get groceries in under two hours via Express Delivery, supported by Instacart. Boost members get free delivery for $99/year.
Kroger just leveled up its delivery game. The retailer is launching Express Delivery, a new service powered by Instacart. Customers can order online via Kroger’s app or website, selecting Express Delivery at checkout. Orders arrive in as little as two hours. Boost by Kroger Plus members, who pay $99/year, get this service free.
Kroger isn’t new to fast delivery. Since 2018, it has used AI and robotics via its Ocado-powered fulfillment centers. These hubs optimize routes and keep deliveries fresh. Even with recent cutbacks—closing three facilities in 2024—Kroger keeps expanding its digital services.
Customers now have multiple ways to get their groceries. In-store pickup is free for orders over $35, ready in two hours. Standard delivery uses temperature-controlled vans, reaching up to 90 miles. The new Express Delivery adds another ultra-fast option.
Speed is key in grocery e-commerce, and Kroger is keeping up. Instacart-powered Express Delivery competes with Amazon Fresh and Walmart’s fast options. As Kenneth Perkins from Kroger says, "Let Kroger give you a little time back in your day."
