Wolt, owned by DoorDash, announced it will acquire Romania’s Tazz from eMAG. The deal is expected to close soon, with both regulatory approvals and standard conditions in place. Wolt’s CEO, Miki Kuusi, is enthusiastic about blending Tazz’s market expertise with Wolt’s technology, aiming to improve services for both customers and merchants in Romania.
Tazz, founded in Timișoara, operates in over 35 cities across Romania with a team of 260 people. Over the years, it has become a leader in the food, grocery, and retail delivery sectors. Under eMAG’s ownership since 2019, Tazz expanded significantly, partnering with over 10,000 businesses from an initial 100.
Wolt plans to roll out its brand and services across Romania once the deal is finalized. Kuusi expressed confidence in a smooth transition for customers, employees, and partners. Wolt’s focus will be on combining its operational strength with Tazz’s local expertise to grow its presence in the region.
Tazz CEO Alin Șerban described the acquisition as "an extraordinary opportunity," crediting eMAG for supporting the company’s rapid growth. Likewise, Tudor Manea, CEO of eMAG, celebrated Tazz’s success story, highlighting its journey from a local startup to a leading delivery platform with a vast partner network. Manea stated, "Tazz will remain part of the Genius program, offering free delivery and great deals."
