Amazon launches a new “Refund Without Return” solution for U.S. FBA sellers, allowing refunds without the need to return items. Sellers can enable this, with restrictions on item eligibility and customer abuse safeguards in place.
On September 12, Amazon introduced its "Refund Without Return" solution for sellers in the U.S. This policy allows sellers on the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) platform to offer refunds without customers returning the product. While the option is not automatically enabled, sellers have the flexibility to opt in. Amazon explained that this is designed to improve customer satisfaction and lower logistics costs.
Not all products are eligible for the refund option. Items like hazardous materials, large or heavy items, and those over $75 are excluded. Additionally, Amazon ensures this option is only available to customers with no history of return abuse. Products must also meet legal and safety standards, ensuring that sellers are protected from fraud or misuse of the system.
This new solution aims to help sellers better manage their return processes. By reducing the number of items that need to be physically returned, sellers can save on logistics costs and time. Amazon sees this as a way to simplify operations, especially for sellers with a high volume of returns, while also keeping customers satisfied.
In addition to the Refund Without Return policy, Amazon recently removed its "Excess Storage Fee" for sellers using FBA in the U.S., Europe, and Canada. These updates are part of Amazon’s efforts to enhance their fulfillment services, especially during busy seasons. Amazon’s goal is to provide a more flexible and cost-effective experience for sellers while continuing to grow its platform.
