Amazon expands into telehealth, offering affordable ED and hair loss treatments through its One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy services. With pricing starting at $10/month for anti-aging skincare and $19/month for ED, it competes with Hims & Hers.
Amazon has announced an expansion of its telehealth and pharmacy services, targeting popular companies like Hims & Hers and Ro. Prime members can now access affordable treatments for hair loss, erectile dysfunction (ED), skincare, and more. Starting at just $10/month for anti-aging skincare and $19/month for ED medication, this move underscores Amazon's commitment to offering affordable, convenient healthcare. "We’re committed to giving customers control of their health," said Bergen Penhart, general manager of Amazon One Medical. This strategy aligns with Amazon’s growing focus on healthcare innovation.
Through Amazon’s One Medical service, members can schedule pay-per-visit consultations, starting at $29 for chat and $49 for video sessions. These consultations cover five common health concerns, including hair regrowth and anti-aging solutions. Prescriptions can be delivered to members' doors via Amazon Pharmacy. This user-friendly system puts Amazon in direct competition with Hims & Hers, which has built its reputation since 2017 by offering similar treatments for men and women.
Amazon's entry into telehealth comes as competitors like Hims & Hers and Ro enjoy success. Both companies started in 2017, focusing on men’s health and later expanding to weight loss and other lifestyle treatments. Amazon's pricing undercuts competitors like Hims & Hers, which charges more for similar products. The move could reshape the telehealth market by introducing Prime’s expansive reach and cost-saving efficiency to millions of members.
Hims & Hers saw a 4.8% increase in stock price following Amazon’s announcement, while Amazon's stock dipped slightly by 0.65%. Analysts suggest that Amazon’s aggressive pricing could disrupt the market, drawing customers away from specialized telehealth providers. This is part of Amazon’s broader push into healthcare, which includes the acquisition of One Medical earlier this year. As Amazon continues to innovate, it challenges existing players to rethink their strategies in a rapidly evolving market.
