Dave Clark, ex-Amazon CEO, raised $100M to start Auger, an AI-driven supply chain platform. Auger promises real-time insights and improved efficiency for businesses. Clark aims to fix inefficiencies he calls "human problems," like delays and high prices.
Dave Clark, once Amazon’s worldwide consumer CEO, has launched a new company, Auger, after raising $100M. This new supply chain platform is backed by Oak HC/FT. Clark’s career includes leadership at Flexport, where he aimed to take the company public. His departure from Flexport, amid mismanagement claims, led him to start his own business in the field he knows best: supply chains.
Clark’s new startup, Auger, aims to solve key supply chain problems using AI technology. Auger’s platform will unify supply chain data and provide businesses with real-time insights. It promises to simplify complex decisions, replacing old tools like Excel with an AI-powered chatbot. Users will be able to ask questions about shipments and inventory, getting instant answers. Clark says existing supply chain systems are “Franken-software” and wants Auger to fix that.
Global supply chains are facing disruptions, from worker strikes to political conflicts. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, almost half of manufacturers are struggling to get supplies. There’s growing demand for better logistics software, a market projected to reach $46.5B by 2025. Startups like Altana, Everstream, and Pando are competitors in this crowded space, but Clark believes Auger’s AI tools will stand out.
Clark is confident that Auger will revolutionize supply chain management, using AI and machine learning to generate dynamic insights in real time. Auger’s goal is to help businesses move beyond manual tasks, focusing on innovation. Although it hasn’t secured customers yet, Clark sees potential for significant growth. Matt Streisfeld from Oak HC/FT calls Clark a “once-in-a-lifetime” founder. Auger’s product roadmap will be revealed in the coming months.
