Starting January 10, 2025, TikTok Shop sellers using “Ship by Seller” must cover customer-paid shipping fees in all return cases. Sellers are advised to review their pricing strategy.
TikTok Shop has updated its refund and return policy for sellers using the "Ship by Seller" method. Starting January 10, 2025, sellers must reimburse the initial shipping fee paid by customers for all returns. Previously, TikTok could cover these costs for certain cases, including change-of-mind returns. This change excludes sellers using the “Ship by TikTok” method, who will not see any adjustments.
Under the new rules, sellers using "Ship by Seller" must refund both the product price and the original shipping fee, even for customer-initiated returns. These amounts will be deducted from the seller’s account during the settlement process. TikTok advises sellers to review their shipping rates to mitigate losses and ensure compliance with the policy changes.
The policy takes effect on January 10, 2025. TikTok encourages sellers to study the Guidelines for Refunding Shipping Fees to Buyers to avoid disruptions. By preparing in advance, sellers can adjust pricing and shipping strategies to minimize financial impact.
This shift may pressure small businesses reliant on TikTok Shop for revenue. For sellers using "Ship by Seller," absorbing these costs could mean higher prices or reduced margins. TikTok's recommendation to reevaluate shipping fees underscores the need for financial planning.
