DoorDash adds 5 grocers to its platform, including Fresh Encounter, Stew Leonard’s, and Plum Market. These family-owned stores expand DoorDash’s grocery reach. CEO Tony Xu notes growing demand, with more users ordering groceries first.
DoorDash announced partnerships with five grocers to expand its grocery delivery service. Notable additions include Midwest-based Fresh Encounter, Stew Leonard’s, and Plum Market. The lineup also features Fruitful Yield in Chicago and Robért Fresh Market in New Orleans. These partnerships connect DoorDash with family-owned grocers and small chains that focus on personalized customer experiences.
DoorDash, which entered the grocery space four years ago, is steadily broadening its reach. The partnership with Fresh Encounter is especially notable as it marks the chain’s debut in third-party delivery. DoorDash’s CEO Tony Xu highlighted that customers ordering groceries on the platform are increasing their frequency and spending over time, signaling consumer confidence in the service.
All five grocers are now part of DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program offering free delivery, reduced service fees, and other perks. This addition is expected to attract more budget-conscious shoppers. DashPass users can also bundle items from multiple stores, a feature DoorDash unveiled alongside a partnership with Bon Appétit to offer shoppable recipes.
DoorDash CFO Ravi Inukonda noted that many new users are starting their platform journey with grocery orders. This shift strengthens DoorDash’s standing beyond restaurant deliveries. From national brands like Wegmans to small family grocers, the platform’s growing network makes it a go-to option for grocery shopping. This strategy aligns with trends showing consumers prioritizing convenience in their purchasing habits.
