Amazon's new feature redirects users to brands' websites when products are not in stock, enhancing customer experience and selection.
Amazon is testing a feature that redirects shoppers to brands' websites when products are unavailable on its platform. This beta test is currently live for select U.S. customers using the Amazon Shopping app on iOS and Android. Rajiv Mehta, Amazon's VP of search and conversational shopping, stated, "We're continuously working to expand selection and make shopping even more convenient for customers."
When a customer searches for a product that Amazon doesn't sell, the app displays the item with a link to the brand's website. A pop-up message notifies users they're leaving Amazon. Some brands offer "Buy with Prime," allowing Prime members to use their Amazon account and payment information on the brand's site, enjoying benefits like fast, free delivery.
This initiative aims to broaden Amazon's product selection. By directing customers to external brands, Amazon enhances the shopping experience, ensuring customers find what they're looking for, even if it's not available on Amazon.
Brands can participate in this feature by contacting Amazon. They can also opt out if they choose. Amazon assures that it doesn't share users' personal information with brands when they click on these links.
Would you prefer being redirected to a brand's website if Amazon doesn't have the product you want?
