Amazon’s new Export Central tool simplifies cross-border selling, allowing merchants from six European stores to sell in 39 countries. This program boosts traffic and sales, with FBA sellers automatically enrolled and MFN sellers required to set shipping rates.
On September 12, 2024, Amazon launched its Export Central tool to make it easier for sellers to expand into new markets. This tool allows sellers from six Amazon stores (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands) to reach customers in 39 European countries. Sellers can export to countries without an Amazon store, like Austria, Portugal, and Greece, without creating new accounts or duplicating listings. This is part of Amazon's European Export Programme, designed to simplify cross-border selling.
Export Central is designed to drive more traffic and conversions to existing Amazon listings. Sellers using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) are automatically enrolled in the program. Those using Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN) must set their shipping rates and transit times for international orders. Amazon reports that sellers who enable export options see an average sales increase of 10%. These international sales open opportunities for growth, especially in regions where Amazon does not operate a store.
Setting up international shipping is straightforward with Export Central. Sellers can adjust shipping settings across multiple stores simultaneously with just three clicks. This includes setting shipping rates, transit times, and destinations. Amazon automatically proposes standard shipping options for MFN sellers, which can be reviewed and edited before proceeding. Sellers need to ensure they are VAT compliant in destination countries, with the Union One-Stop Shop (UOSS) simplifying VAT registration.
Xavier Flamand, Amazon’s VP of Seller Services, Europe, emphasized the tool’s importance: "We are always looking at ways to support our selling partners to grow their business. Export Central is a game-changer for Amazon sellers looking to expand across borders." By removing traditional barriers to international expansion, Amazon aims to help small and medium businesses focus on creating and selling their products, empowering them to reach millions of new customers with ease.
