UK-based DELLI has raised $6M in a Seed extension to build on its success. The online food marketplace has seen 16X growth in sales, with users doubling their basket size. Founded by Marie Petrovicka and Simon Beckerman, DELLI is now expanding regionally and enhancing its tools for sellers.
DELLI, a marketplace for independent food products, has secured a $6M Seed extension to capitalize on its momentum. The platform allows users to buy and sell small-batch food products. The funding comes after impressive growth, with sales increasing 16X in the past year. Buyers are doubling their basket sizes and returning to shop more frequently. The funds will help DELLI expand its product offerings and delivery options.
DELLI's focus on small, independent food makers is a key factor in its success. CEO Marie Petrovicka stated that buyers are moving away from mass-produced products and are looking for unique, small-batch items with stories behind them. DELLI’s platform gives these sellers space to grow, with tools designed to help them overcome challenges posed by supermarket dominance. "We’re excited to give these makers a platform," said Petrovicka, adding that DELLI's growth will continue to bring "real food to more people."
DELLI is doubling down on regional partnerships, targeting key UK cities like Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Birmingham. Recently, Manchester’s Pollen bakery sold out of their croissant butter twice on DELLI, signaling the growing demand for exclusive small-batch products. These partnerships are vital to DELLI's expansion strategy, as it seeks to grow its maker base and bring unique, high-quality products to more local communities.
The latest investment round was led by Balderton Capital. General Partner Daniel Waterhouse praised DELLI’s progress under the leadership of Marie Petrovicka, stating, "Marie has taken DELLI's growth to the next level, and the momentum is remarkable." With consumer preferences shifting towards high-quality, independent food products, Waterhouse is confident DELLI’s growth will continue to soar. The new funding will help DELLI enhance its services and expand its platform to reach even more customers across the UK.
