Empik marketplace thrived in 2023, growing eight times faster than the market, crossing 11 million orders from third-party sellers. Now, it drives over a third of Empik's total online sales.
Empik, Poland's retail giant, has not only survived but thrived in the competitive e-commerce landscape. In 2023, Empik.com ranked fourth among e-commerce platforms in Poland, with monthly traffic of over 9 million users (Gemius/Mediapanel). A significant part of this success is the marketplace, which now accounts for more than one-third of Empik’s total online sales.
By the end of 2023, Empik celebrated having 7,000 active third-party sellers on its platform. It aims to grow this number by two-thirds by the end of 2024. From small workshops to big brands like Komputronik, Empik is a preferred partner thanks to its broad, omnichannel customer base.
EmpikPlace recorded an 80% year-over-year growth in the first quarter of 2024. The platform has consistently outpaced the market, growing eight times faster than its competitors. Mirek Drab, Director of Marketplace at Empik, highlighted the strategic importance of understanding local market dynamics and offering competitive terms to sellers.
2024 is set to be another ambitious year for Empik with plans to introduce outlet offerings and expand the Strefa Design project. This strategy not only diversifies their portfolio but also enhances the shopping experience for their customers, solidifying Empik's position in the market.
