Fleek, a London-based startup, is shaking up the secondhand clothing industry. Founded in 2021 by friends Abhi Arora and Sanket Agarwal, they have created a digital marketplace connecting wholesalers and retailers. Recently, Fleek raised $20.4M, with $14.8M in Series A funding and $5.6M from seed investments. This funding will help them meet the growing demand in the secondhand market, which has exploded over the past two decades.
The platform has already connected over 10,000 resellers from about 70 countries. They’ve successfully moved 2.5 million items of secondhand clothing sourced from 1,000 wholesale suppliers. Fleek’s commission model allows them to take a cut from transactions, supporting their continued growth while offering better accessibility for retailers worldwide.
Fleek's success has attracted renowned backers like HV Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, along with notable individuals such as Harley Finkelstein from Shopify. The company’s founders saw an opportunity during the pandemic when traditional supply chains faced issues. As a result, they tapped into the online world with an organized approach for wholesalers to showcase their products efficiently.
Looking ahead, Fleek plans to enhance its technology with predictive analytics and AI tools to improve quality control and logistics. With secondhand clothing making up over 10% of all clothing sales, particularly among Gen Z and millennials, Fleek is well-positioned to lead in a market that promotes sustainability and waste reduction. The founders aim to connect more buyers and sellers while empowering entrepreneurs in the evolving fashion landscape.
