On September 4, 2024, Kaufland officially launched its Marketplace in Austria. This marks the fourth country where the platform is available. Already established in Germany, Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia, the platform enables local businesses to sell products across these countries. Interestingly, Kaufland does not yet have physical stores in Austria, making this move a purely digital expansion.
According to Michał Łagunionek, CEO of Kaufland Polska, the company aims to become one of Austria's top e-commerce platforms. He said, "Our ambition is to become one of the most popular e-commerce platforms in the country, supported by the recognition and values of our brand." The company is betting on its strong brand recognition and existing user base to quickly gain traction.
Kaufland Marketplace is already a major player in Germany, with an impressive 32M visitors every month. The platform offers more than 45M products spread across 6,400 categories, making it one of Germany's largest e-commerce platforms. Kaufland's success in Germany sets a strong foundation for its international expansion.
The Kaufland Marketplace’s expansion into Austria offers new opportunities for sellers in all four countries. Sellers in Poland, Germany, Czechia, and Slovakia can now list products in Austria without additional efforts. The platform is designed to simplify cross-border e-commerce, enabling businesses to grow their international sales easily.
