Kaufland adjusts marketplace fees effective April 30, with a notable rise in small household appliances category. Other categories see minor changes.
On April 30, Kaufland will revise its fee structure across various product categories on its Global Marketplace. Most changes are minor, fluctuating by about plus or minus one percent, but the small household appliances category faces a significant increase from 7% to 13%. This adjustment aligns Kaufland's fees with market trends, mirroring a similar move by Otto, which recently raised its fees in this category from 8% to 15%.
Despite the fee hike, Kaufland maintains that "the majority of the commissions have remained the same," aiming to keep their platform competitive. "In this category, we have adapted to the market level," stated Robert Schlichter, Vice President of Otto Market. This strategy reflects an effort to balance competitive pricing with quality service offerings.
In recent developments, Kaufland has announced the expansion of its marketplace to include Austria and Poland, aiming for a launch by late summer. This expansion allows retailers to access a broader market across five countries, leveraging Kaufland’s robust platform to reach more consumers. Meanwhile, fees on the Polish marketplace are set to be lower compared to other regions.
Kaufland continues to innovate with the introduction of an international fulfillment service and adjustments to their commission structure. These changes are designed to provide a future-proof platform that supports sustainable growth. This strategic foresight is part of Kaufland's commitment to improving service and maintaining a competitive edge in the ecommerce space.
