Prosus expects $400M e-commerce profit this fiscal year, up from $38M in 2024. CEO Bloisi eyes more Indian IPOs after Swiggy’s $1.25B filing. In April-Sept, adjusted EBIT tripled compared to all of 2024.
Prosus NV, a Dutch technology investor, anticipates a jump in adjusted profit to $400M for its e-commerce segment this fiscal year. This is a significant rise compared to $38M last year, when the company bounced back from a $413M loss. The company’s strong April-September performance saw adjusted EBIT nearly triple the total of the previous year. "I do not expect this pace of improvement to slow down next year either," said CEO Fabricio Bloisi on Oct 21.
Prosus is a major shareholder in Swiggy, the Indian food delivery giant that recently filed for a $1.25B IPO. This could be one of India's biggest IPOs this year. Bloisi mentioned that more of Prosus’s investments in India may seek listings in the next 12 to 18 months. “We have many more investments in India and will continue to invest there as we remain very excited about the prospects for the country,” he said. Key Indian investments include PayU, Meesho, Urban Company, Pharmeasy, and BYJU’S.
In Bloisi’s first 100 days as CEO, Prosus’s global e-commerce business saw a significant boost in profitability. The company achieved around three times the adjusted EBIT in the first half of its 2025 fiscal year compared to the whole of 2024. This improved financial performance highlights the company's shift toward strengthening its core e-commerce operations, aiming to generate more free cash flow and sustainable growth.
Prosus, valued at $100B, has set ambitious goals for the future. Bloisi aims to double the company's worth, targeting an additional $100B in value. His strategy involves investing in fast-growing, profitable ventures, particularly in emerging markets like India. Prosus’s long-term vision includes leveraging its investments to become a leading player in the tech sector. The focus is on transforming its e-commerce segment into a major profit source for the broader group.
