Ferovinum, founded by Mitchel Fowler in Australia’s Hunter Valley, has secured $23.2M for global expansion. The platform helps wine makers by transforming their inventory into a “just-in-time asset,” providing £114M in working capital. With growing interest, it’s also attracting significant investment, including from Notion Capital. The company is now supporting major distilleries and sparkling wine producers across the U.K.
Mitchel Fowler, raised in Australia’s Hunter Valley, grew up surrounded by vineyards. After a successful finance career, he returned to his roots to address the wine industry's financial challenges. His startup, Ferovinum, offers a platform that turns wine and spirits into “just-in-time assets.” This approach allows producers to focus on growth, leveraging their inventory without the risks associated with traditional B2B lending.
Ferovinum has recently raised $23.2M (around £17.5M) from investors like Notion Capital, Shaper Capital, and Semapa Next. This new funding aims to expand the platform globally. The company has already facilitated £114M in working capital for U.K. wine and spirits producers. Ferovinum’s innovative solution is particularly appealing in a market with limited direct competition.
Wine producers face difficulties using traditional banking products, as their inventory is not easily leveraged. Ferovinum's platform addresses this by managing stock throughout the entire value chain, from warehouse management to fulfilling retailer orders. As Fowler explained, this helps “democratize” financing, making it accessible even to smaller producers.
Ferovinum's platform has gained traction among prominent U.K. distilleries, including Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery and Port of Leith Distillery, as well as sparkling wine producers like Ridgeview Wine Estate. With Jos White from Notion Capital joining its board, Ferovinum is set to broaden its impact, helping wine producers worldwide manage their inventory and scale their businesses more efficiently.
Could Ferovinum's model revolutionize other industries?
